Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has taken significant steps in addressing the healthcare needs of rural and remote regions across India. With the inauguration of 10 telemedicine centers and the launch of four mobile medical units, the foundation’s Sparsh Sanjeevani healthcare initiative now covers four states and two union territories, extending much-needed healthcare services to some of India’s most challenging terrains.
Expanding Healthcare Access to Remote Areas
The initiative, which is designed to cater to areas with limited access to healthcare, focuses on regions like Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh—some of the highest and most remote locations in India. The telemedicine centers aim to provide primary healthcare consultations in areas where access to hospitals and clinics is often limited. By using telemedicine technology, residents in these regions can now consult with healthcare professionals without the need to travel long distances.
The Sparsh Sanjeevani program now operates a total of 50 telemedicine centers and 10 mobile medical units across India. These centers serve over 1.3 million people, providing diagnostics, medical consultations, and health check-ups to rural populations. The new telemedicine centers were established in locations such as Bhalla, Doda (Jammu & Kashmir), Kargil, Drass, and Kharu (Ladakh). Mobile medical units, equipped with Hyundai’s specially designed Mighty vans, were also launched in Panipat (Haryana), Narmada (Gujarat), Moga (Punjab), and Baramulla (Jammu & Kashmir).
