Delhi Joins Ayushman Bharat – A New Era of Free Health Coverage Begins

In a historic move, Delhi has become the 35th State/Union Territory to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). This free health insurance scheme aims to provide quality and cashless treatment to millions of people across India, especially the poor and vulnerable.

The scheme was launched in Delhi on April 6 through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Health Authority (NHA) and the Delhi Government, in the presence of the Union Health Minister, Delhi CM, and other dignitaries.

What is Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY?

Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY is the world’s largest health assurance scheme that offers:

  • ₹5 lakh free annual health coverage per family
  • Access to cashless treatment in public and private hospitals
  • Coverage for 1,961 medical procedures across 27 specialties
  • Inclusion of all pre-existing conditions from Day 1
