Free AI-Powered Breast Cancer Detection Reaches Rural Villages in Maharashtra

In a big step towards early cancer detection, a new mobile van for free breast cancer screening is now visiting villages across the Pune district in Maharashtra. This van is part of an initiative by TGH Onco-Life Cancer Centre, supported by the Rotary Club of Talegaon, Dabhade, and funded through CSR by POSCO India.

This mobile van brings AI-powered cancer screening to the doorsteps of rural women, helping detect breast cancer and other types of cancers early, safely, and at no cost.

🚐 What Does the Mobile Cancer Screening Van Offer?

This specially designed van is equipped with a state-of-the-art AI tool called Thermalytix — a non-contact, radiation-free, and privacy-friendly breast screening method. It is safe for women of all age groups, including those under 40, and gives results within 2 minutes. Results can be sent through WhatsApp, email, or print.

The van offers free health check-ups, including:

  • Thermal screening for breast cancer
  • Pap smear/VIA test for cervical cancer
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Blood tests for various cancer markers

If any abnormal result is found, the patient is referred to the hospital for further tests like mammograms or sonograms.

🏥 Where Will the Van Travel?

The mobile screening unit will travel across the following Pune district talukas:
Ambegaon, Baramati, Bhor, Daund, Haveli, Indapur, Junnar, Khed, Mawal, Mulshi, Pune City, Purandhar, Shirur, and Velhe.

The van will also visit large offices and industries, especially targeting underprivileged working women who may delay regular health checkups due to time or cost barriers.

💡 Why This Initiative is Important

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women in India, especially because many cases are detected too late. With tools like Thermalytix AI breast screening, early diagnosis becomes easier, faster, and accessible even in rural or semi-urban areas.

Sachin Deshmukh, MD of Onco Life Hospital, said:

“This van allows women to get safe and private cancer screening without stepping into a hospital. We are also guiding patients about government schemes like PMJAY, MJPJAY, ECHS, and MPKAY and offering financial support or discounts for treatment when needed.”

🌟 Community and Corporate Support

The van was donated by the Rotary Club of Talegaon Dabhade with the support of POSCO India’s CSR funds.

Kamlesh Karle, President (2024-2025) of Rotary Club of Talegaon Dabhade, shared:

“This van is for the underprivileged. Early detection can save lives, and we are proud to bring this service to rural communities who need it the most.”

Final Thoughts

This free mobile cancer screening van is making AI-based breast cancer detection accessible, especially for rural women in Maharashtra. With faster results, privacy-focused testing, and medical guidance, this initiative is a big step toward preventing cancer through early diagnosis.
