In a major move to modernize emergency services, the Haryana government has announced the launch of an AI-powered auto-dispatch system for its 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) starting July 2025. This smart upgrade will help cut down delays and provide faster medical help during emergencies by replacing the current manual dispatch system with intelligent automation.
🚨 How AI Will Improve Emergency Response
The new AI-based system will automatically identify the type of emergency and quickly dispatch the right vehicle—ambulance, fire truck, or police—without waiting for a human operator to take action. This means that precious minutes can be saved, especially during critical medical emergencies.
This project will be launched on a pilot basis in July 2025, with plans to expand it statewide if successful.
📈 What the Data Says: Big Improvements Already
Since the launch of ERSS, the system has handled:
- Over 2.31 crore emergency calls
- Dispatched 46.6 lakh emergency vehicles
In April 2025 alone, the system attended 6.1 lakh calls, up from 5.3 lakh in 2024 and 4.7 lakh in 2022. The dispatch rate improved to 30% in 2025 from 24% in 2024 and 17% in 2022.
Notable response time improvements:
- Police: From 12:04 min (2022) to 7:03 min (2025)
- Medical: From 25:44 min (2022) to 12:50 min (2025)
- Fire: Held steady at 32:50 min
🏥 Smarter Healthcare Support
Additional Chief Secretary Sumita Misra emphasized the need for hospital mapping in every district. This will ensure that road accident victims are taken to the nearest, best-equipped hospital, reducing time to treatment and improving survival rates.
🚺 Women’s Safety Also Enhanced
The Trip Monitoring Service (TMS), launched in November 2023, has also shown success. Women can now share live locations via WhatsApp with two dedicated desks at the emergency center, ensuring safer travel. More than 300 trips have been monitored successfully under this initiative.
🧠 Why This Matters
Using AI in emergency healthcare can save lives by improving speed and accuracy in crises. These upgrades not only help citizens get faster medical help but also set an example for digital transformation in public health systems.
