The Maharashtra Medical Education Department has issued a new rule requiring all medical professionals, including students and faculty, to wear white aprons. This applies to allopathy, dentistry, ayurveda, and homeopathy institutions across the state.

Why is Wearing a White Apron Important?

According to the Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DMER), the white apron is more than just a uniform—it serves as a symbol of trust and professionalism in healthcare settings.

✔️ Easy Identification – Patients can easily recognize medical professionals and approach them for help.
✔️ Maintains Professionalism – Wearing a neat and clean apron reflects discipline and responsibility.
✔️ Enhances Patient Confidence – A standard dress code reassures patients that they are in the hands of trained professionals.

Guidelines for Wearing White Aprons

🔹 Who Must Wear It? – Faculty, teachers, postgraduate and undergraduate students, interns, resident doctors, and all healthcare professionals.
🔹 Where to Wear It? – In teaching classrooms and while providing patient care.
🔹 How to Wear It? – Aprons must be white, clean, buttoned up, and neatly worn. They should not be carried by hand or draped over the shoulders.
