The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced a major update in the attendance system for faculty members in all medical colleges and institutions across India. Starting May 1, 2025, all attendance will be marked using Face-Based Aadhaar Authentication through the NMC AEBAS platform, replacing the current fingerprint biometric method.

This new system aims to make attendance faster, more accurate, and user-friendly, while leveraging the latest facial recognition technology.

📲 What Is Face-Based Aadhaar Attendance?

This is a biometric attendance system where your face is used to verify your identity, instead of using a fingerprint or iris scan. The app uses your Aadhaar photo stored in the UIDAI database for face matching and is already being used in many government offices.

🏥 Who Needs to Follow This?

All government and private medical colleges under the NMC across India must implement this system for faculty and staff attendance. Every faculty member must install the app and start using it on May 1, 2025.

📌 Key Dates to Remember:

• April 20, 2025: Deadline for colleges to submit GPS coordinates (attendance zones)
• April 24, 2025: Face Authentication App will be activated
• May 1, 2025: Fingerprint devices will be disabled, and only face authentication will be allowed

📍 What Colleges Need to Do:

1. Share the GPS coordinates of campus zones (100-meter radius) with NMC by April 20
2. Assign a Nodal Officer and submit contact details
3. Ensure all faculty install the Aadhaar Face Authentication App (available on Android & iOS)
4. Assist faculty during the transition period (April 24–30)
5. Coordinate with AEBAS technical support for any issues

📱 How to Mark Attendance via App:

1. Open the FACE BAS App
2. Choose Domain: NMC&NCH
3. Enter 8-digit Attendance ID and Submit
4. Choose the Entry point location
5. Click “Scan Biometric” and show your face to the camera
6. The success screen will show “Attendance In” or “Attendance Out”
