Thyrocare Promoter Docon Sells Major Stake For ₹986 Crore

Major Stake Sale in Thyrocare

Docon Technologies, one of the promoters of Thyrocare Technologies, has sold a 9.9% stake in the diagnostics company for ₹985.86 crore through multiple bulk and block deals. The transaction involved approximately 1.58 crore equity shares, sold across the NSE and BSE.

The shares were sold in the range of ₹624 to ₹631.71 per share, marking a significant transaction in India’s diagnostics sector.

Docon Remains the Majority Promoter

Following the transaction, Docon Technologies’ holding in Thyrocare has declined from 60.92% to 51.02%.

Despite the stake reduction, Docon continues to remain the promoter and holding company of Thyrocare, retaining majority ownership of the diagnostics chain.

This means the transaction represents a partial monetisation of the promoter’s investment rather than an exit from the company.

Strong Institutional Participation

The stake sale attracted participation from several major institutional investors, insurance companies and global investment firms.

Investors participating in the transaction included HSBC Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, WhiteOak Capital and ITI Mutual Fund. Insurance companies and global investors including Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Global Markets, HBM Healthcare Investments and Kuwait Investment Authority also participated.

The broad institutional participation highlights continued investor interest in India’s diagnostics industry.

Thyrocare Continues to Show Business Growth

The stake sale comes after a strong first quarter performance from Thyrocare.

For Q1 FY27, the company reported a 24% year on year increase in revenue to ₹240.02 crore. Profit after tax rose 34% to ₹51.33 crore, while EBITDA increased 34% to ₹77.27 crore.

The company also processed approximately 55.2 million tests during the quarter, representing a 28% year on year increase.

Expanding Beyond Traditional Pathology

Thyrocare has been expanding its diagnostic portfolio, including the addition of allergy testing and its entry into genomics through NIPT, while continuing to expand its test menu.

The company has also been focusing on network expansion and increasing its presence in underserved markets through franchise and partner networks.

These developments reflect the broader evolution of India’s diagnostics market, where demand is increasingly moving toward specialised and technology enabled testing.

A Significant Transaction for the Diagnostics Sector

The latest stake sale is not Docon’s first major divestment in Thyrocare. In October 2025, Docon sold another 10% stake for approximately ₹667 crore.

The latest transaction therefore adds another significant chapter to the ownership and investment story surrounding one of India’s established diagnostics companies.

What It Means for Thyrocare

The transaction brings greater institutional participation in Thyrocare while allowing Docon to retain majority control.

At the same time, the company’s recent financial performance and expansion into specialised diagnostics indicate that its growth strategy remains focused on increasing testing volumes, broadening its portfolio and reaching more patients across India.
