In a groundbreaking step for healthcare technology, Genrobotics has launched India’s first robotic-assisted Paediatric Gait Trainer, the G-Gaiter Paediatric, designed to revolutionize physical rehabilitation for children with mobility challenges. Unveiled by Kerala Health Minister Veena George at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, this innovative device integrates cutting-edge robotics and virtual reality (VR) to provide a stimulating and engaging therapy experience.
What is the G-Gaiter Paediatric?
The G-Gaiter Paediatric is a robotic solution developed to assist children with gait disabilities caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and brain or spinal cord injuries. It leverages Genrobotics’ patented GPLOT Exoskeleton Technology, allowing children to develop natural gait patterns through advanced robotic gait therapy.
Key features include:
- Virtual Reality Integration: Engaging therapy sessions with real-time interactive games to motivate children during rehabilitation.
- Intelligent Therapy Mode: Helps children relearn motor patterns, improve muscle coordination, and enhance functional mobility.
- Pediatric-Friendly Design: Ensures comfort and accessibility for young patients.
This cutting-edge technology represents a significant advancement in the quality of rehabilitative care, offering children the chance to regain their mobility and improve their quality of life.
A Milestone in Healthcare
Speaking at the launch, Health Minister Veena George described the G-Gaiter Paediatric as a leap forward in Kerala’s integration of technology into healthcare. The minister announced that the device will be installed at Sree Avittam Thirunal (SAT) Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, a Centre of Excellence for Mother and Childcare.
“Ventures like G-Gaiter bring us into a new phase where technology and community-focused healthcare come together to enhance the quality of life,” she said, emphasizing that the technology will bring hope to children with mobility challenges and their families.
The Vision Behind G-Gaiter
Genrobotics’ CEO, Vimal Govind M K, shared his vision of revolutionizing physical medicine and rehabilitation through advanced technology. “Our goal is to ensure individuals with gait challenges, regardless of age, have access to innovative rehabilitation solutions,” he stated.
Kerala Startup Mission CEO Anoop Ambika and other notable dignitaries also attended the event, highlighting the collaboration between healthcare, technology, and entrepreneurship in driving such innovations.
