Union Health Minister Inaugurates Central Research Lab and New Facilities at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar

In a major boost to medical research and healthcare infrastructure in eastern India, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda inaugurated the Central Research Laboratory at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar on Saturday, 12th April. This new facility is expected to become a key center for advanced medical research, innovation, and training.

🧪 Central Research Laboratory: A Hub for Innovation

The newly launched Central Research Laboratory is designed to:

  • Support cutting-edge scientific research
  • Empower doctors, scientists, and students with modern research tools
  • Develop innovative healthcare solutions for India and beyond

This lab places AIIMS-Bhubaneswar in line with top national research institutions, helping strengthen India’s medical research capabilities.

🏗️ New Infrastructure for Better Learning and Public Engagement

Alongside the research lab, the minister also laid the foundation stone for a multi-utility (gastronomy) block. This modern facility will:

  • Serve the needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Offer spaces for relaxation, food, and services on the campus
  • Enhance the overall campus experience and engagement

🌐 Digital Transformation with Revamped Website

To make AIIMS-Bhubaneswar more accessible, a revamped official website was launched:

  • More user-friendly interface
  • Integrated patient services
  • Showcases Odisha’s cultural heritage
  • Easier access to appointments, information, and online resources

💊 Expanded Health Services

The minister also:

  • Inaugurated the EHS Clinic for better staff healthcare
  • Launched an AMRIT Pharmacy, offering affordable medicines to the public
  • Announced plans to set up a Skin Bank, the first of its kind in eastern India

These services aim to improve access to essential healthcare and support patients with burn injuries and critical skin conditions.

🔎 Visit to Burn Centre & High-Level Review

Minister Nadda also visited the Burn Centre, a unique and advanced facility in eastern India. He conducted a high-level review of development projects at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and engaged with medical students, staff, and healthcare workers, appreciating their dedication.
