This effort is part of Project BreatheEZ, a bold step towards saving lives through AI-led screening and better care.
🧠 What’s Project BreatheEZ?
Project BreatheEZ will set up Incidental Pulmonary Nodule (IPN) Detection Clinics in leading hospitals across India. These clinics will use Qure.ai’s advanced artificial intelligence tools to scan X-rays and CT scans for small nodules in the lungs—tiny spots that could be early signs of cancer.
These clinics act as screening hubs, helping doctors catch lung cancer when it’s still treatable. The initiative has already launched its first clinic at Thangam Cancer Centre in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, with plans to expand to 10 central hospitals (hubs) and 20 connected hospitals (spokes) across India.

In India, 1 in 9 people may be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Lung cancer is especially dangerous because it often shows no symptoms until it’s too late.
Traditional screening methods can miss early warning signs. But with Qure.ai’s AI technology, doctors can now flag dangerous nodules early, speeding up diagnosis and improving chances of survival.

Anuj Virmani, Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson MedTech India, highlighted the challenge: in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, access to advanced diagnosis is still limited. This partnership brings high-quality, AI-enabled diagnosis to areas that need it most.
The clinics offer structured screening, faster triaging, and continuous follow-up—all designed to improve outcomes and reduce the burden of late-stage cancer care.
