Centre Reviews NEET PG 2026 Preparedness
Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda has reviewed the preparations for NEET PG 2026, emphasizing that the examination must be conducted in a secure, transparent, and student friendly manner. During the review meeting, officials assessed the readiness of examination centres, technology infrastructure, and security protocols to ensure the smooth conduct of one of India’s largest postgraduate medical entrance examinations. Over 2.73 lakh candidates have registered for the exam, reflecting an increase of more than 12.5% compared with the previous year.
Strong Focus on Security
Following concerns over examination integrity in recent years, authorities have introduced multiple security measures to safeguard NEET PG 2026.
The examination will be conducted in a single shift across 340 cities, reducing variations between candidates and ensuring greater fairness. Enhanced digital security, strict monitoring systems, encrypted handling of examination papers, and multiple verification layers have been put in place to protect the examination process from malpractice.
Candidates Advised to Ignore Rumours
During the review, the Health Minister urged candidates not to believe or circulate rumours related to paper leaks or fraudulent claims on social media.
Officials clarified that robust security mechanisms have been implemented to protect the confidentiality of the examination. Candidates have been advised to rely only on official announcements for authentic information and to report suspicious activities through designated channels.
Candidate Friendly Reforms
Along with stronger security, several reforms have been introduced to improve the examination experience.
These include:
- Single shift examination nationwide
- Aadhaar based authentication and biometric verification
- Examination centres located closer to candidates’ preferred locations
- Revised examination pattern with 180 questions to be completed in 210 minutes
These changes are intended to reduce travel related stress, improve convenience, and ensure a more standardized assessment process.

Conducting NEET PG 2026 requires extensive coordination among multiple agencies.
Thousands of examination personnel, technical teams, invigilators, and security officials will work together to ensure that every examination centre follows standardized operating procedures. Advanced monitoring systems and strict compliance measures are expected to strengthen the overall integrity of the examination.

The enhanced security framework reflects the government’s broader effort to strengthen public confidence in national level medical entrance examinations.
