A Legacy in White Coats
Born into a family of doctors, Dr. Kishan’s path seemed predestined. With both his parents practicing medicine—his father a gynecologist and his mother a general practitioner—it wasn’t long before Kishan himself dreamed of donning the white coat. Fuelled by inspiration from his parents’ patient-centered care and deep-rooted values, he topped the Karnataka CET and earned admission to the prestigious Mysore Medical College. He later cracked the PGI Chandigarh exam in his first attempt, choosing orthopedics as his specialization.
A Clinical Journey with Academic Brilliance
While pursuing MS Orthopedics at PGI Chandigarh, Dr. Kishan not only mastered surgical skills but also published 13 research papers in indexed international journals, setting him apart as a brilliant academician. Though many expected him to join a teaching institute, his heart remained rooted in his hometown.
He began his career in a 200-bed private hospital in Shimoga, where he introduced joint replacement surgeries and handled complex trauma cases. His weekends were spent offering outreach OPDs in Sagar, laying the foundation for what would soon become a transformational leap.
Reviving the Roots: Expanding the Family Hospital
Returning to Sagar, Dr. Kishan took over his father’s 30-bed hospital. Under his leadership, it evolved into a 50-bed institution with three modular OTs and later into a 100-bed multispecialty hospital equipped with advanced diagnostics like a 1.5 Tesla MRI and a 32-slice CT scan. Today, the hospital boasts 11 consultants and serves patients from across Karnataka.
Dr. Kishan’s biggest challenge? Attracting and retaining qualified staff in a Tier-3 town. His solution: creating a close-knit, purpose-driven team culture. From role-playing training exercises to incentivizing staff with thoughtful gestures, he has fostered a work environment where everyone feels valued.
Embracing Spirituality and Community Service
Despite a demanding schedule, Dr. Kishan remains deeply connected to spirituality and service. As a certified Vedic instructor and member of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, he teaches Vedic chants weekly and leads community health initiatives. His family has adopted three villages, offering free health checkups and moral education in schools—a true testament to his belief in holistic well-being.
A Digital Leap: The YouTube Revolution
What truly catapulted Dr. Kishan into the spotlight was his foray into digital education. In March 2023, he started a YouTube channel to share simple, actionable advice on orthopedic health and lifestyle diseases in Kannada. His videos, known for their clarity and relatability, quickly gained traction.
Today, with over 2.6 lakh subscribers, his channel is a trusted resource for people across Karnataka. Patients travel over 500 kilometers just to consult him, already informed and reassured by his videos. He now consistently uploads two videos a week, a practice that has become a powerful patient engagement tool.
Marketing with Meaning
Dr. Kishan believes in positive, purposeful marketing. For the 40th anniversary of the hospital, he organized a series of 8 weekly community events—Walkathons, free camps for municipal workers, geriatric care drives, and women’s health awareness programs. These events strengthened his hospital’s connection with the community and significantly boosted its reputation.
