In a major push toward digital healthcare, Haryana has created 1.63 crore ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) cards under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This initiative is aimed at building a secure and connected digital health system for every citizen.
Recently, the Health Minister got her ABHA card made along with her staff and encouraged the public to join the movement. She called ABDM a “transformational initiative” that will make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and transparent across the country.
What is an ABHA Card?
The ABHA card is a unique digital health ID that allows people to:
- Store, access, and share their health records digitally
- Give consent-based access to doctors and hospitals
- Ensure continuity of care across different health providers
- Improve transparency and accuracy in treatment
It works like a digital health passport for every Indian citizen.
Key Highlights from Haryana’s Progress
- 1.63 crore ABHA IDs have been created so far
- The Healthcare Professional Registry (HPR) and Health Facility Registry (HFR) are being updated
- Data security is a top priority — health records are not stored centrally, and access is only granted with explicit patient consent
- The ABDM operations team is conducting awareness drives and helping citizens register across all districts
The Health Minister emphasized that ABDM promotes interoperable data exchange, meaning hospitals, clinics, and doctors can safely share patient data without the hassle of paperwork or repetition.
“The system is built with strong security. Patient data stays with healthcare providers, and only limited data is stored centrally to keep everything transparent and trustworthy,” she said.
